Ideal Foods donates to Liskeard & Looe Foodbank

9th April 2020 Our Business

Liskeard based, seafood company ‘Ideal Foods’ has donated £500 and a large parcel of vital food supplies to the Liskeard & Looe Foodbank to help the local community through Covid-19.

As a business operating in the food sector, exporting fish products, an essential food source packed with nutrients to more than 40 countries around the world, Ideal Foods is all too aware of the impact that Covid-19 is having on household incomes across the UK.

By donating to the local Foodbank, Ideal Foods can help the most vulnerable families in the local area of Liskeard in Cornwall to get through Covid-19.

Tony Horner, Managing Director of Ideal Foods comments: “These are most extraordinary times and as a food business, we have a responsibility to help those suffering most to continue to feed their families.

“We are fortunate enough that our business is able to continue operating albeit on a scaled down model. Our staff, who are working from home are doing a fantastic job to keep operations going despite all the odds, so that we can continue to export fish products worldwide.”

Along with the £500 donation, staff at Ideal Foods Ltd donated food items from their own kitchen cupboards, pet food products, nappies and other essential items to the foodbank.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, the Liskeard & Looe Foodbank, part of The Trussell Trust network, has seen demand for emergency food parcels increase dramatically. At the same time, they also have fewer volunteers that are able to help due to social distancing and self-isolation.

Liskeard and Looe Foodbank is currently operating a ‘Delivery Only’ model whereby those referred to the Foodbank will have emergency food aid dropped to their doorstep in the Liskeard, Looe, Torpoint and Rame areas.
